Ian Gray, CIEH Prinipcal Policy Officer, attended Buckingham Palace in November 2009 to receive his MBE, following his inclusion in the Queen's birthday honours list in June for services to public health, notably his campaigning for smoke free legislation.

He was accompanied to the palace by his wife, Yim Leng; son Andrew and daughter Jennifer. He said:

My family and I had a wonderful time. I spoke to the Queen and she commented that the smoke-free legislation had been very popular.

Mr Gray thanked his friends and colleagues for their support.
