The executive meeting is to be held before the main members meeting, and will discuss the developments following the position statement made on the future of the LAQN as well as progress on the FSA grants for transfer to the Food Hygiene Ratig Scheme and the sending out of a membership survey on future services for members.

2M group publish response to proposals for repeal of noise directive

The 2M Group is an all-party alliance of local authorities concerned about the environmental impact of Heathrow operations on their communities. The group, which took its name from the 2 million residents of the original 12 authorities, now represents a combined population of 5 million people. They ask that their views be taken into account in the formulation of the proposed new EU regulation and repeal of Directive 2002/30/EC.

Alehm position statement on the future of air quality monitoring in London

Alehm members have expressed concern about the potential loss of a valuable resource for London as a result of historical funding arrangements for the London Air Quality Network (LAQN) which monitors the air quality across London. It is largely funded by individual local authorities where current financial pressures are leading to closure of sites and changes to local service provision which is affecting the integrity and effectiveness of the London-wide network.

To raise awareness of the current situation, Alehm have released a statement recommending financial support from the Greater London Authority to secure the future viability of the network.

Workshop: Transforming regulatory enforcement, freeing up business growth

It's really important that EHPs responds positively and assertively. The CIEH want to consult members widely using focus groups to help prepare their response and are holding a free workshop.
